Anthology of Romanian fairy-tales written by children launched in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 30 November /MOLDPRES/ - An anthology titled, ”101 basme românești, scrise de copii” (101 Romanian fairy-tales, written by children) was launched at the Chisinau-based B.P. Hasdeu Municipal Library today. The event was organized by the host institution, in partnership with the Bucharest Metropolitan Library, with the participation of the latter’s director, Ramona Mezei, in the presence the young authors and children’s parents.   

In the beginning of the launch, the director of the host institution, Mariana Harjevschi, said that the project, 101 Romanian fairy-tales, written by children, had been initiated by the Metropolitan Library of Bucharest, joined by the B.P. Hasdeu Municipal library, with workshops, held in seven of the library’s branches.  

”At trainings of creating writing, children developed their capacities of composing, improved the style of writing, imagination, thus contributing to the stipulation of the flexible thinking, to the discovery of the talent to improvise and arrange ideas in order. Through organizing the workshops, work was carried out to create the fairy-tales, as well for the creative illustration, with the children urged and coordinated by writers. The project made the children get closer to the library, to books. This proved us that the library can bring up intelligent and gifted children,” the institution’s director noted.  

According to Mariana Harjevschi, within the project, workshops of writing and creative illustration for children were held at the branches Onisifor Ghibu, Ovidius, Targoviste, Targu-Mures, Eminescu International Academic Centre, National Library. “This is one of the modern, actively participatory models of stimulating creativeness, which does not boil down only to writing, but emphasis is also put on reading, verbalizing, free discussions, drawing and pictures,” Harjevschi added.     

For her part, the director of the Metropolitan Library of Bucharest, Ramona Mezei, said that the project had been carried out in July-September 2019. On this period, children learned how to write a fairy-tale, how texts and illustrations are made, how should they speak freely and correctly, benefiting from the support of topic-related readings and librarians’ encouraging. “I would like to repeatedly thank everybody and say you that you have drawn wonderful, new and amazing personages so well, that I forgot your age,” Ramona Mezei told the children.     

Following this collective exercise, they managed to compose short and competitive fairy-tales, published in a volume and printed under the aegis of the Publishing House of the Bucharest Metropolitan Library and which was launched on the occasion of Romania’s National Day, at the 101st anniversary of the Great Union.   

Attending the event was the minister adviser of the Embassy of Romania in Chisinau, Valeriu Stoica, who highly appreciated this work.
