Runoff presidential elections held in Moldova

Chisinau, 15 November /MOLDPRES/ - The runoff presidential elections take place in Moldova today. As many as 2,143 polling stations were opened, of which 139 ones - for the Moldovan citizens from abroad and another 42 polling stations - for the Moldovan citizens with residence on the left bank of Dniester.
All polling stations from Moldova were opened at 7:00. The voting process began in most countries abroad. A member of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), Vladimir Sarban, made statements to this effect at a news briefing today.
According to Sarban, more than 3,600,000 ballot papers were printed for holding the electoral process, of which 671,000 for the Moldovan citizens from abroad.
At the polling stations from Moldova, the citizens can exercise their right to vote by presenting the identity card and the accompanying sheet, which confirms the domicile or residence on the territory of the polling station. They also can vote with the temporary identity card and the job identity cards and the seasoned servicemen – with the soldier’s record. The today’s ballot will be monitored by more than 1,800 national observers and over 300 international observers, accredited by CEC.
In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, citizens are asked to enter voting booths with protection masks and take their own pen to sign in the list. The people who will not be able to move to the polling station, including those who have symptoms of acute respiratory infections, will be able to vote at the place of their stay after submitting an application to this end till the voting day, at 15:00.
