Artists from nine countries to participate in 2020 issue of Martisor International Music Festival

Chisinau, 24 February /MOLDPRES/ - Artists from Argentina, Belgium, Russia, Ireland, Montenegro, Poland, Portugal, Romania and Moldova will participate in the 54th issue of the Martisor International Music Festival, due to be held in Chisinau and in the territory on 1-10 March.
At a today’s news conference, Education, Culture and Research Minister Corneliu Popovici said that 53 music shows would be held at the Festival, organized by the concert institutions subordinated to the Ministry (Moldova-Concert Concert and Impresario Organization, Serghei Lunchevici National Philharmonic, Organ Hall, JOC National Academic Folk Dance Ensemble), of which 28 ones in various Moldovan districts: Anenii Noi, Briceni, Cahul, Comrat, Criuleni, Edinet, Hancesti, Ialoveni, Orhei, Soroca, Ungheni, Balti city, including two concerts in Tiraspol.
According to the official, the this year issue of the festival will me barked also by anniversary concerts, organized by the most representative concert institutions from Moldova: the Symphony Orchestra and the Doina Choir Chapel of the Serghei Lunchevici National Philharmonic, at the 90th anniversary of its foundation, Fluieras Ensemble of Folk Songs and Dances and the JOC National Academic Folk Dance Ensemble, at 75 years, as well as the Lautarii (The Fiddlers) National Folk Music Orchestra – at 50 years.
Artists and collectives from outside Moldova will perform at Martisor, such as: Trio Montagnana” (Belgium), David Filipe (violin, Portugal), Celtic Legends band of Irish dances (Ireland), Martin Palmeri (Argentina), Marek Stefanski (Poland), Sedov Jazz Trio, Stas Mikhaylov (Russia), Montenegrin Guitar Duo (Montenegro), Fuego, Inna, Victor Socaciu and conductor Gheorghe Costin (Romania).
Traditionally, the festival will bring to public also the most famous artistic bands from Moldova: the JOC National Academic Folk Dance Ensemble, the Symphony Orchestra of the Serghei Lunchevici National Philharmonic, the Lautarii, Folclor and Mugurel folk music orchestras, Concertino band of accordionists, Alex Calancea Band and others.
The inauguration of the Martisor-2020 International Music Festival will take place at the headquarters of the Nicolae Sulac National Palace on 1 March at 18:00, within a musical and choreographic show titled Pastel, stage management by Lidia Panfil.
The participants in the event will be handed the trophy of the Martisor International Music Festival.
The festival’s budget is about 2.7 million lei this year.
The first issue of the Martisor International Music Festival was held at the Chisinau-based Serghei Lunchevici National Philharmonic in 1966. The festival is meant to make happy the native audience with the presence of famous artists not only of Moldova, but also from all over the world, turning Chisinau into a real cultural centre.
