Calarasi mayoralty announces competition for lighting project supported by EU

Chisinau, 25 February /MOLDPRES/- Calarasi mayoralty announced a tender for the project Improving public lighting in Calarasi, as part of the regional program of Eastern neighborhood in support of the Eastern Partnership initiative on sustainable urban development. It is funded by the European Union, co-financed by the Energy Efficiency Agency and local authorities. The deadline for submission of tenders is April 14.
The project is carried out in 2018-2020, aimed at increasing the efficiency of the public lighting and the safety of the inhabitants of Calarasi. "For this purpose it was proposed to modernize the public lighting system to reduce CO2 emissions, operational costs and increase the comfort, safety of citizens and visitors of Calarasi. The goals set in the project are in line with the city’s priorities of the Sustainable Energy Action Plan. They lead to a real energy saving of about 713.57 MWh / year and over 316.4 t CO2 per year ”, Calarasi mayoralty says.
The project is implemented by Calarasi mayoralty, in partnership with IDIS Viitorul. The project is funded by the European Union through the EU program Mayors' Convention - Demonstration Projects. As a result, the project will ensure a real economy of 6,500 euros / year, reduce CO2 emissions and the costs of maintenance and operation.
According to the project, 900 LEDs are to be set up in Calarasi, at a distance of about 25 km, and the power supply cables will be installed underground. Thus, over 30 streets in Calarasi will renew their public lighting systems.
