Tiraspol introduces more restrictions given COVID-19 infection

Chisinau, 16 March /MOLDPRES/ - The authorities of the breakaway Moldovan Transnistrian republic have introduced more restrictions, in order to prevent the new-type coronavirus COVID-19. An operative group, set up specially on this purpose, deals with the monitoring of the situation.    

A hotline was opened in Tiraspol on the last days and an electronic register was made operational, which shows data about citizens’ entries and exits from the Transnistrian region.

Also, the leisure and entertainment, sports, cultural and artistic institutions, which are placed in rooms, ceased working. All education institutions, including the pre-school ones, are closed till 5 April. A parent from families with kindergarten children, who has nobody to leave their children with, will be able to take medical leave, without going to policlinic, by phone.      

At the same time, Tiraspol banned the crossing of the border of the so-called Transnistrian Moldovan republic to the citizens who do not have passports or residence acts issued by the authorities from the left bank of Dniester.  

Norms of social distance, as well as hygienic and sanitary ones are introduced in all commercial units, drug stores, etc.; the markets and other open-space objects work in continuation, with the observance of all rules of epidemiological prevention and two enterprises of textiles from the region launched lines for manufacturing protection masks.    

On 16 March, eight persons who contacted with people sick with coronavirus are now self-isolated at home in the Transnistrian region.
