Chisinau, 16 September /MOLDPRES/ - The Reintegration Policies Bureau expresses regret about Tiraspol’s intention to extend the residents’ self-isolation, under the pretext of the COVID-19 pandemic, till 1 December 2020. Under earlier decisions by the de facto structures from the region, these measures were to expire on 30 September, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.
Without diminishing the importance of the epidemiological crisis and the need to protect the residents from the infection’s risk, the Bureau considers that the virus must not be used on political purposes and as justification for infringing the human rights.
The sanitary crisis triggered by the pandemic represents a tough test for all state authorities and their capacity to intervene and adapt to the new circumstances; or, the access to the place of job, medical services, education, free movement cannot make more difficult the situation of the residents who need to move.
The Bureau repeatedly urges Tiraspol’s representatives to accept Chisinau’s initiatives of cooperation in the sanitary and epidemiological sector, in line with the recommendations by the World Health Organization and calls on the international and local partners to focus on this situation regarding the human rights.
