Moldovan electoral body approves report on result of presidential election

Chisinau, 23 November /MOLDPRES/- The Central Electoral Commission / CEC / approved today the Report on results of the elections for president of Moldova on 1 November 2020. It covers an exhaustive description of the activities of preparation, organization and conduct of presidential election.
At the 20 November meeting, the approval of the report was moved to 22 November, as the reason was its drafting was not yet ready. The 22 November meeting did not register the required number of votes, several members of the electoral administration being absent. By law, the Central Electoral Commission decisions are taken by majority vote of its members, meaning at least five votes.
Upon approval, the report on the results of the presidential election is sent to the Constitutional Court for validation. The court confirms or not by a decision the legality of the elections within 10 days from the receipt of the documents from the CEC, but not earlier than the final settlement by the courts of the appeals submitted under the procedures set by law.
