Chisinau, 30 November /MOLDPRES/- Today Prime Minister Ion Chicu participated in traditional meeting with President Igor Dodon and Speaker Zinaida Greceanii, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
The main topic on the agenda was the examination and approval of the draft fiscal policy for 2021 and the three draft annual budgets: the state budget, state social insurance budget and funds compulsory health insurance. "Today we will examine them and I hope we will vote to submit them to Parliament for approval. The project is a common product of all those who are interested in the country in 2021 to have a fiscal budget policy as relevant as possible to the situation we are in", he said.
As a priority, the fiscal budget policy for 2021 supports the field of medicine, which, due to the pandemic, is the most requested and affected branch.
"In medicine, there will be the largest allocations and increases both in terms of remuneration for the work of medical staff and for consolidating the technical-material base of the medical system. Only the 30% salary increase that is expected for 1 January 2021, cumulated with the one from 1 September 2020, will cost the state budget 2 billion lei. It is effort of society to encourage our doctors to stay in the country and save us," he said.
The premier noted that for next year, the government also comes up with proposals that provide local public authorities with more tools to strengthen their fiscal budget base. At the same time, massive investments in infrastructure will continue, attracting investors to the territory and ensuring predictability for them. "The government comes up with proposals that provide more tools to strengthen its budget base. We want to provide a forecast for investors. Investors want to know what the taxes will be not only for this year, but also in 2-3 years," he said.
This week's agenda also includes his participation in special session of the UN General Assembly, dedicated to COVID-19. The prime minister once again stressed the need for citizens to strictly comply with anti-epidemic rules, in the context in which the pandemic is making more and more victims at local, regional and global level. In recent days, the number of those infected worldwide exceeds 700 thousand per day.
"Places in hospitals are at limit. This week we intend to activate a few dozen new places in medical institutions. Unfortunately, the main problem is the lack of medical staff. We have already mobilized all reserves - students, resident doctors, so we can further identify spaces, beds, equipment, but people in the medical field are not. We ask people to be responsible and to comply with the new restrictions," he said.
He also approached the restrictions imposed by the state of emergency, which enters into force today and which largely affects people of culture.
Regarding the budgetary situation for November 2020, Chicu said that all commitments have been met, and the revenues from taxes and duties this month are up by 12% than in the same period last year.
