Regulation appointing judge to ECHR to be published in Official Journal of Moldova

Chisinau, 3 December /MOLDPRES/- The today Official Journal will make public the government decision on setting up Commission for selecting candidates for the position of judge at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) and the approval of the Regulation on organization and conduct of the national contest for filling the position of judge at the ECHR on behalf of Moldova.

"The procedure for selecting judges takes place in three stages. Initially, candidates are selected at national level in the Commission, then the files of the three judges are submitted for examination to the expert advisory panel on candidates for election as ECHR judges," the document reads.

The judge of Moldova will be elected by the final vote in the plenary of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

The mandate of the current judge from our country at the ECHR, Valeriu Grițco, expires on 2 December 2021.
