Moldovan education ministry says 27 schools, 496 classes work online

Chisinau, 7 December /MOLDPRES/ -There were 520 pupils positively tested with COVID-19 and 13,017 were placed in self-isolation on 4 December. Also, 27 education institutions of Moldova, as well as 496 classes work online because of the quarantine, the Education Culture and Research Ministry (MECC) has reported.
According to the ministry, 624 teachers were confirmed positive with the new-type coronavirus and 575 are in self-isolation. As many as 140 persons out of the non-didactic and auxiliary staff were infected with the new-type coronavirus and another 245ones are in self-isolation.
As for the vocational education, 21 pupils, 16 teachers and 14 non-didactic and auxiliary staff members were positively tested with the Sars-Cov-2 virus on the period 30 November – 4 December. Also, 12 groups of pupils are in self-isolation.
In the higher education sector, 36 students were positively tested with Covid-19 and179 are in self-isolation on the period 30 November. Twenty six teachers were confirmed positive with the new-type coronavirus and 23 ones are in self-isolation. Twelve people out of the non-didactic and auxiliary staff were infected and 13 are in self-isolation, MECC said.
A number of 1,321 education institutions resumed working, at the founder’s decision, out of the total number of 1,398 early education institutions. Presently, 23 institutions and 58 groups of children are in quarantine. There are nine children positively confirmed with the COVID-19 virus and another 1,719 ones are in self-isolation. As many as 142 teachers were confirmed positive with the new-type coronavirus and 229 ones are in self-isolation. A number of 105 people were infected out of the non-didactic and auxiliary personnel and another 234 are in self-isolation, the Education Ministry said.
The Education, Culture and Research Ministry reiterates the urge to the managers of education institutions, teachers and pupils to observe all protection measures against the COVID-19 virus.
