Chisinau, 8 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Chisinau general mayor, Ion Ceban, today participated in the inauguration of a mural painting titled, Colour world in orange, made on the wall of the Trolley Busses’ Park No 1 from Chisinau. The mural painting has an area of about 700 square metres, is dedicated to the solidarity in combating the violence against women and was carried out by the organization Urban Spirit Family, in cooperation with the Chisinau Electric Transport Administration (RTEC).
According to Ceban, the goal of the mural painting is to raise the public opinion’s awareness about the gender-based violence acts, especially the violence against women and girls. ‘’The violence in any form is condemnable. The gender-based violence acts have a major impact on the entire society and the authorities are responsible for the prevention and combating of this phenomenon. We deem this initiative as extremely important, as well as other actions of this kind, carried out based on partnership, which has a strong message, in order to raise the awareness of the public opinion,’’ Ceban said.
The mural painting was made by the team Urban Spirit Family, led by Inna Jeleascovaka, along with the team White Tigers Crew from the Transnistrian region. RTEC will provide the illumination of the mural painting at night.
The project is implemented within the Campaign, 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence, at an initiative of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women (UN WOMEN) in Moldova, with the financial support of Sweden.
