Moldovan, European officials approach European integration agenda

Chisinau, 9 December /MOLDPRES/- The progress of the reforms related to the implementation of the Association Agreement and the political situation in the Republic of Moldova have been the subject of discussion between Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Aureliu Ciocoi and Olivér Várhelyi, European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, the MAEIE press service has reported.

Ciocoi referred to the situation in Moldova, emphasizing the importance of close cooperation with the EU in the priority areas covered by the Association Agreement and in counteracting the consequences of the pandemic crisis. At the same time, the Moldovan official noted the concerns communicated by the EU in the context of recent political developments in the Moldovan parliament.

Commissioner Várhelyi urged Chisinau authorities to continue implementing the necessary reforms, and pointed out that the European Union's willingness to support the Republic of Moldova depends on their outcome.

Also, Ciocoi and Varhelyi exchanged views on the prospects for developing cooperation within the Eastern Partnership.
