Moldovan cabinet approves programme, action plan in land sector

Chisinau, 9 December /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet members today approved a programme on land improvements, in order to ensure the sustainable management of soil resources for 2021-2025 and an action plan on its implementation for 2021-2023.
The programme will be fully implemented in 2021-2025 and will be divided into stages of implementation of three and two years, respectively. The first stage comprises the years 2021-2023, which provides for the following works of land improvements, protection, preservation and enhancing the fertility of soils, carried out for: protecting the soil against mechanical action of water and wind (category which comprises the complex of works for the prevention and combating (control) of soil’s erosion); remaking (completing) the deficit of humidity (category which comprises lands’ irrigation); preventing and removing the excess of water in the soil, from its surface (category including the draining and drainage); reestablishing the soils (category which includes works of construction and exploitation of hydro-technical objects, works of selective stripping and binding of deteriorated or degraded lands, works of amelioration of alkalis and saline soils).
The action plan for 2024-2025 will be elaborated subsequently. The programme is worked out with the involvement of scientific and education institutions, as well as specialists from the land improvement and forestry fields.
The public authorities/institutions in charge of implementing the programme will present, once in half a year, the report on the degree of achieving the indicators set in the action plan to the Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ministry (MADRM). The ministry will present to the cabinet the report on the action plan approved annually on 1 February. The control over the carrying out of this decision is entrusted with MADRM and the decision will enter into force on the date of its publication in Moldova’s Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial).
