Second round of USM rector elections to be held on 16 December

Chisinau, 10 December /MOLDPRES/- The general assembly of the voters of the State University of Moldova (USM) failed to elect the new rector of the institution last night. The second round of the competition will take place on 16 December between Igor Sarov, former Minister of Education, Culture and Research and Florentin Paladi, dean of the Faculty of Physics and Engineering.
In the first round of voting on 9 December, 794 people entitled to vote were registered on the lists, participating 709. For Igor Sarov 339 persons voted, and for Florentin Paladi - 233. The third contestant, the dean of the Faculty of Law of USM, Serghei Brînză, has got 137 votes.
It is for the first time when the future rector of the State University of Moldova will be elected and not appointed.
